Alexandra has studied Egyptian dance for over 25 years with both national and international master teachers. With a wide variety of styles “under her belt” such as Egyptian Folkloric & Classical, American Tribal Style, & Ghawazi – she has been a professional performer, and for 25 years a dedicated teacher.
Co-founder (with Shameela) and now the principal & artistic director of the Desert Flame School of Belly Dance, Central Coast, N.S.W.
Alexandra’s passion for this dance is infectious, as she invites students to delve inside and bring out the dormant goddess, warrior, maiden or any one of the many archetypes that lay within a woman. With hauntingly mystical or excitingly playful Arabic music as the key, good technique as the step, she opens the door to dance !!
Alexandra has celebrated Egyptian dance by performing and facilitating workshops at many festivals such as Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festivals, Mid Nth Coast Middle Eastern Dance Festival, Canberra National Folk Festival, Peats Ridge Festival, National Egypt Day Sydney, MInd Body & Spirit Festival Sydney, and numerous local music, arts and dance festivals, including her own area’s CoastFest.
She regularly performed at Brackets and Jam, both Kincumba Mtn and Lake Munmorah, and other local festivals such as Warnervale Fair, Kids Day Out, Fun & Food (Toukley), The Entrance Mardi Gra, Harmony Day – to name a few.
Other major events she has performed in was starring as “The Queen of Sheba” at the 2006 Sydney Middle Eastern Festival “Orientalism” Concert at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Also National Egypt Day – Darling Harbour.
Another highlight was performing on Channel 9’s “The Footy Show” live to air with real cobra snakes, swords and hearts pounding ! Or dancing along side the famous “Ghawazi Caravan” Tribal Troupe at the Sydney Equestrian Arena – on sand !! Like a real desert !!
Alexandra was the resident dancer at The Arabian Lounge Lebanese Restaurant at the The Entrance for 7 years, until January 2018. She started her professional dance journey at Anatolia’s Turkish Restaurant, Newcastle, in 1998, and also was the resident dancer at Sirens Greek Restaurant, Terrigal for 5 years.
